SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING – Special thanks to Bob McAmis and those who agreed to ring the bell this year.  The Mall has gotten SO CHEAP that they are charging the Salvation Army for people to stand in a vacant space in the Mall hallway a rate the Salvation Army cannot afford to pay.  Therefore, we are actually ringing the bell in front of Sam’s Club this year.  This writer STRONGLY urges all members to Boycott the Mall !!!

NEXT KIWANIS SOCIAL – Will be on the Thursday the 30th of January location TBD.

INTERCLUB – The next Interclub will be to the Clinton Club which meets at the Coharrie Country Club.  It will be next Thursday 19th leaving from our Rec Center at 11:00 am

PROGRAM –Danny Highsmith (AKA The Mouth of The South) introduced former US Congressman Bob Etheridge as our Friday program.  Bob is the State Executive Director, USDA-NC Farm Service Agency.   Among other things, we learned that NC has the 4th most diverse agriculture in the entire country.  Also, Hurricane Helene caused more damage in dollars than any other storm in US history.  Finally, the loss of farming land to building since 1970 in acres equals the land mass of GA, SC, NC, VA, and WVA combined.   This trend cannot continue, or our country will not be able to sustain itself.

20 DECEMBER PROGRAM – Will be Al Miller from the United Methodist Church Hurricane disaster relief program in Western NC.

WORDS FOR THE HEART – Happiness is not a destination, It is a Way of Life.  Enjoy the Journey !!

UP COMING PROGRAM – On 10 January retired Reverend David Harvin will provide an update on Israel and the situation in the Middle East.  David spoke to the Club a few years ago about the political situation in Israel, and he has visited that area over 15 times. He also worked with a group called Fair Witness For The Middle East for many years.
