Did You KnowShirish Devasthali gave a “Did You Know” that combined his experiences on a trip to Mexico and a tribute to Grace McGrath. Grace puts in lots of effort behind the scenes in our community and we are all better for it.

The Program
The program, introduced by George Hendricks, was presented by Dr. Shannon Mathews. Dr. Matthews is the Director of the Nursing Program at Methodist University. She shared with us some interesting statistics about the national nursing shortage (134,000 positions open at this time). The shortage is due to a variety of issues: large number of nurses who are retiring, Abuse from patients, general burnout and a shortage of adequate classroom space. The field is wide open with multiple opportunities for advancement. Starting salaries for a new nurse average $30 per hour.
Thanks to George Hendricks for bringing this interesting program!

Editor’s Note: We do not meet this week (07/04/2025), but look forward to seeing everyone next week (07/11/2025)

Parting words:  Go the extra mile, it’s not crowded there.

Until next time,
