Friday’s Meeting                                                                     9 May 2025

President no tie got us started after some friendly table banging and Kirby “the love song singer” White led us in singing and the pledge. Hal Broadfoot brought the invocation, and we remembered our infirmed as follows: Phil Harris Sr., Lee Warren’s daughter Tammy, Debbie Best, Debbie Best’s sister Kara, Kalli Ziglar’s brother Paul, Robbie Talton’s wife Deeanna, Bobby Bleeker, and Barbara Porter’s daughter in law Nicole. Please keep these K members and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

We had an uneventful and uncontested election of a new president elect for next year and new members of the board of directors. The slate of nominees that was presented passed by voice vote as there were no nominees from the floor. Congratulations to Jay Gothard the newly elected President elect and six new board members: George Hendrik, Cheryl Gleason, Debbie Best, Alan Buffalo, Roger Blackwood, and Fred Cutter. Jay Gothard delivered a candid and somewhat humorous “Did you know” about his background.

Program: Gary Cooper introduced our District Governor, John Chiesa, who talked about the difference in “JOINING” and “BELONGING” as joining is rational, but belonging is emotional. So Kiwanis is a belonging organization because you have fun, make lifelong friends, and support Kids in the community which is certainly emotional. Kiwanis needs to bring in new people to keep the activity going and not get stagnant.  We must also let new ideas take root as they may prosper.  Thanks, John, for these friendly reminders about our organization.

Yours truly (Fred Klinck) wone $50 in the 50/50 raffle.
