Today found us back in the Kiwanis Rec Center after our sojourn to Hay Street Methodist who were wonderful hosts.  Al rang the bell; Kirby sang and pledged, and our meeting was underway. Brent Hairr offered the invocation and remembered the following Kiwanians who are on our infirmed list: Jerry Teele, Grace Moon, John Byers, Grant Gabriel, Hooper Hall, LD Brock, Mark Hurley, Robby Talton’s wife, Chris Dixon, and Steven Moore.

Program:
Hal Broadfoot introduced Gary Weller who inspired us by his story of how he dealt with an intentional hit and run that left him in a coma for 35 days and required years of rehabilitation.  Gary has not let the accident dampen his enthusiasm for life and talks about still living life to its fullest even without use of his legs.  You could tell that his earlier formation as a Football Coach had served him well in his ability to inspire others with his story. Gary says it’s important to find a way in life and if not, you can always find an excuse. He talked about how he came to forgive the person who had intentionally run him down while looking him in the eye and saying I forgive you but do not give you permission to ruin the rest of my life.  Gary ended by reading the words of the Song the River by Garth Brooks that carry special meaning for him.
