Friday’s Meeting                                         7 August 2026

 

President Steve rang the bell, and Kirby was back to lead the pledge and singing.  We had a good crowd for a mid-summer meeting must have been the lure of The Splash Pad in all this hot weather.

Sandy Sanders offered the invocation, and our meeting was in motion.

Please keep the following infirmed members and families in your thoughts and prayers: Charles T Haigh, Tim Dunn, Barbara Poter’s daughter in law, Nicole; Robbie Talton’s wife, Deanna, Kirby White was back at the meeting today looking good; Danny Highsmith is also doing better; Lee Warren is in rehab after Hip replacement; Norwood Bryan back home from the hospital; Lisa Childers due to a ruptured calf muscle.  Richard Everett is at Duke.

 

Guests: Joshua, Christopher, Pam as well as Worth’s kids. Bring a perspective member to the meeting next week.

 

There were no birthdays, but Pres Steve acknowledged a few milestones: Al Aycock 10 years, Jim Ammona 35 years, John Malzone 40 years (there were more than 40 years, but John didn’t stay for all the meetings) .

 

Announcements:

 

Program: Worth Smith introduced his better half, and Felicia presented a program that reviewed the who, what, and how of our newest project Kiwanis Family Fun Day.  The Fun Day is designed to serve Cumberland County underprivileged families, single parent families and those with housing needs.  It brings families together with resources within Cumberland County that can help them and it provides needed fun and entertainment along the way. This year we brought together 600 attendees with 17 non-profit partners together with 15 Kiwanians and 20 Key Club members they provided a Petting Zoo, Bounce House, Police demo,sno cones and face painting.  Next year we will need participation from more volunteers and K family members. Good overview and report.
