The June 21st meeting of our club got off to a good start. Kirby led the singing and pledge, and Fred Klinck provided the invocation, and our meeting was in progress. We still have quite a few on our infirmed list. Please keep them in your prayers.

  • President Al reported out on Division Council
  • Reading is Fun and the Contract committee need a chair for the upcoming year.
  • Inter club committee is planning a visit to Coats July 15. Meet at Kiwanis center at 5:30 pm to carpool.
  • Kiwanis Social is changed to Tuesday 25 June at the House of Taps. Hosted by Ad Winter.
  • Family Fun Day (this last Sunday) was a great success. Thank you, Felicia Smith, for your hard work in pulling this off.
Program:
Felicia Smith introduced our program about NCDSA (North Carolina Downs Syndrome Association).  The NCDSA Executive Director, Amy Navejhas, presented an informative program on the role and of the NCDSA and the benefits and programs it provides to Downs Syndrome Families in North Carolina. It was formed in 1987 by a group of concerned citizens and has grown into a statewide nonprofit that empowers, connects, and supports families with downs syndrome members.  Their services range from first call services with ne downs diagnosis or new to the state, Learning institute service, advocacy, social enrichment, support at every age and medical outreach.   They serve more than 4000 families in North Carolina.
