Did you know?  The segment was presented by Scott Embry who covered the history of The United Way and how it has evolved over time since 1939 when a few nonprofits in Fayetteville got together and decided to start a community chest which later became United Way. Thank you, Scott.

Program: George Hendrick introduced Carlie Shurtz as our speaker.  Carlie is an author and storyteller, but her program today was a personal story about turning pain into purpose. She recounted her feelings and emotions surrounding the events of her father’s suicide.  We are created to walk in peace with God by our side leading the way but sometimes fear distracts us. She believes that more believing in the unseen could have saved her father and countless others who have taken their lives.  It was a heartfelt and well delivered program.

Kathy Shurtz, one of our guests, walked away with $41 in the 50/50 raffle.

There will be no meeting next week on Aug 29 due to Labor Day Weekend. We will see you all on Sept 5. Have a safe and relaxing Labor Day Holiday.
