Kiwanis Key
Volume LXXIX Number 30 June 7, 2024
Friday Meeting
President Elect Jim threatened to put out a Silver Alert in search of President Al. Mr. Baseball was called in to pinch-hit once again for the elusive general and did a great job as usual.
The Hammer’s son, Jamie Ammons, was back for his second visit. Jamie is the new local executive for Scouting USA, formerly the Boy Scouts of America. Also, back for his second visit was Camilo Estremadoiro. Camilo is new to the area relocating here from Kansas City (Go Chiefs!) to be closer to family in the area. Camilo found us on our website, so it’s important to remember in today’s world that is happening more and more. Still, the best recruitment always begins with “the ask” as President Al reminds us each week.

Beautiful, Brilliant and Resilient
The fact that I am using these three words to describe our speaker, Felicia Smith, is in no way because she pulled my name out of the coffee can for the 50/50. Just saying. That Felicia is beautiful, inside and out, is apparent to all who know her. That Felicia is brilliant is evidenced by the fact that she holds no less than four separate undergraduate degrees. The fact that Felicia is resilient……well, she is married to Worth, so that pretty much speaks for itself. We only had to endure one year of bad puns and dad jokes. Felicia signed up for a lifetime of it. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
But seriously, Felicia is resilient in that she moved to Fayetteville not knowing anyone outside of her husband’s family and survived a debilitating case of post-partum depression which led to her involvement in a group called Momco. Momco is an International organization founded in 1973 dedicated to helping and supporting young mothers in every way possible. Locally there are 10 Momco groups including one at Snyder Memorial Church. The Momco community helps young moms deal better with stress, see their children in a more positive light, have more self-esteem, and teach them leadership skills they can use inside and outside the Momco community. If you know anyone who could benefit, have them visit the website or better yet, call Felicia!
Next Friday don’t miss our program, Dr. Elton Hendricks, President Emeritus of Methodist University, introduced by son George. See you there!
