ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT – Please make plans now to support the club’s annual golf tournament which will be on Thursday, 8 October at Cypress Lakes Golf Course. The tournament committee has already been at work for the event and is partnering with Lafayette Ford and the other local car dealers in a joint effort to raise funds for the club, but also for our endowment which has now surpassed $500K. We need EVERY SINGLE member to bring a team, play, support a team, fund a hole sign, or at least provide 1-2 raffle prizes in the $20-$25 range. The tournament this year will be in memory of Don Price. More to follow as we get closer.
TERRIFIC KIDS HELP NEEDED !! – Terrific Kids is one of our two SIGNATURE programs in our Club and help is needed. Committee Chairman Russ Jones is doing way more work that he should be having to do, and the work is simple and not very time consuming if we all pitch in. The only thing committee members do is deliver supplies once or twice a year to the school that they support and then make the Terrific Kid of the Year presentation at their respective school in May each year. I have two schools and it is a BLAST !!!! Members (especially new members) who do not have a school need to call or email Russ and volunteer to take a school. He can be reached at (910) 495-6944 or rjones17nc@gmail.com. PLEASE get involved with this committee. It is the very foundation of everything KIWANIS !!!!!!!
PROGRAM – As our scheduled program presenter had to cancel at the last minute, Program Chairman Hal Broadfoot presented a very interesting program on birds that are seldom sighted here in the Cumberland county area. It was a REALLY COOL and fascinating program, and a couple of the five birds that he had photos of have only been sighted one time. Thanks Hal for another GREAT program.
