Friday’s Meeting                                29 May 2026
 
President Steve rang the bell and got us started.  Good to have Kirby White back singing and pledging as usual!  Please keep these infirmed members and family in your thoughts and prayers: Charles T Haigh, Tim Dunn, Barbara Porter’s Daughter in law, Robbie Talton’s wife Deanna, Fred Cutter’s daughter, Kirby White, Henry Tuson’s daughter, Danny Highsmith, Lee Warren (Hip) and his wife Sue. Jim Schafer was back.
 
We had many guests and I think I have them all recorded. Adam, Shannon, Lewis, Kelly, Jack, Kirby White’s better half and Mark Rice’s better Half, and Marvin Pitts. Please come back.
 
Announcements:
  • Terrific Kids-25 Kids and 10 volunteers came to the Ice Cream social given for the Terrific Kids program. It was successful and we want to expand it next year.
  • Family Fun day is approaching 6 June 2026 9:30 to 12:30 Felisha Worth is needing more volunteers as we are expecting 20 students from Reed Ross and we want to pair them with Kiwanians, please email Felisha if you can help.
  • The Splash Pad challenge will start next week, and John Malzone will donate $100 to the endowment for every Kiwanian that gets wet at the splash pad.
  • We voted for Board of Directors, and we appreciate everyone who put their name in the running.  Here are the seven members chosen: Mark Rice, Steve Stokes, Kali Ziegler, Tricia Moreno, Al Aucock, Jim Ammons, Steve Brotherton.
 
Birthdays: Sandy Saunders, Worth Smith, Cherene Comik, Robby Hicks, Jack McGinley, and Grant Gabriel. Max Ruppe will celebrate his 40th Kiwanis Anniversary on May 30th.
 
 
Program: Jim Ammons introduced Dave Bolick who became our 21st State Auditor on 1 January 2025.  Dave began by outlining what The Office of the State Auditor does.  States need Audits and Audit systems to keep a good AAA credit rating which in turn allows loans for bond referendums and major projects. Dave explained that the Auditing doesn’t stop when the loan is approved but continues to follow the money and provide oversight into how it is being spent.  This protects the taxpayer’s money from fraud and abuse. Some of the Boards major accomplishments have  been a DMV Audit that identified needed changes in the DMV, creating a Rapid response organization to track public funds being used for disaster recovery, a board of elections audit that recommended modernization of our election tools, and consistent follow up on previous audit recommendations to ensure compliance.
