4th Week Rookie President Jim brought our Friday the 25th of October meeting to order, Kirby (Sinatra) White led us in the pledge and the singing, and a blessing was offered by Kim Thomas.  The prayer list this week includes Robby Talton’s wife Deanna, Tim Dunn’s son and family in Western NC and their nephew Shane, Debbie Best’s sister Kara Brittain, Kallie Zeigler’s son-in-law Ben, Diane Parfitt’s daughter Nicole and Bruce Brown’s daughter Karen both recovering from breast cancer, Ann Keith, and Bobby Bleeker .          
 
BIRTHDAYS – Jamie Ammons and Brad Hurley on the 20th, Mark Rice on the 23rd, and Will Gillis on the 26th.  
 
2024 GOLF TOURNAMENT – Special thanks to all those who participated in and worked at our annual Care For Kids Golf tournament which was held at Cypress Lakes on Saturday morning the 12th of October.  Special thanks to Bob Mcamis and to the several volunteers he recruited who helped and special thanks also to Felicia Smith who worked at the registration desk and took charge during the luncheon and awards ceremony.  Also, thanks to Jay Gothard for working as the Committee Chairman for the event.
 
FARM CITY WEEK – will be celebrated at the Kiwanis Rec Center on Friday the 22nd of November.  Along with many piiiiiies to be given away, recognition will be given to the young farmer of the year as well as an induction into the County Agriculture Hall of Fame.      
Please try to arrive that day no later than 12:30 pm for lunch so the program can start promptly at 1:00. 
 
KIWANIS DISASTER RELIEF PROJECT – Is being headed up by Mike Pleasant and he reported that so far we have only raised a little over $1,600.00.  Our sister club here in Fayetteville has already raised over $20K so we all need to step up.  PLEASE make your checks payable to our club (Kiwanis Club of Fayetteville) and get them to Mike or Bob Ervin ASAP.  Put Disaster Relief in the remarks section on the check.
 
KIWANIS DAY 2024 – will be November 16th at the Lake Waccamaw Boys and Girls Home of NC.  It is a service project with work between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Please bring in gently used donations for the Country Store run by the home and let Prez Jim know if you can attend. 
 
PROGRAM – Bob McAmis introduced Allen West from the County Ag Extension who gave a really great program on yard maintenance and all the things that can be done in the various seasons to help maintain the health of our lawns.  Thanks for an interesting and informative program Bob.
