President Jim got us started and Kirby “sing it to me one more time “White led us n My Country Tis of Thee and the Pledge. Roger Blackwood offered a gripping invocation, and we remembered our infirmed. Please keep the following members and their families in your thoughts and prayers: Debbie Best’s sister, Kara; Kalli Ziegler’s son-in-law and add her brother; Bruce Brown’s daughter Karen; Ann Keith; Robbie Talton’s wife Deanna and Bobby Bleeker.
 
There were a lot of announcements
  • Pres Elect Stephen reported on the Bored Meeting last night at Scrub Oaks. The Committee of the month is the Golf Committee, and the Board decided to split the money raised for Disaster Relief ($5K) between Spruce Pine Methodist Church and The Red Cross.
  • The Next Membership social will be Dec 5 at 6pm at the Warehouse. It will be a Ugly Christmas Sweater gathering.
  • Farm City Week is next week, and things will start a little earlier so take notice. The event will be in the Kiwanis Rec Center 22 November and will start at 12 noon. We will be honoring the Agriculture Hall of Fame Inductee, and the Young Farmer of the Year. The music starts at 12 and ends at 1. Please consider wearing a seersucker suit in honor of Tal Baggett.
  • Reading is Fun-There are about three schools that still do not have readers. If you are interested, please call Russ Jones.
  • Since the hurricane season is finished Jim asked a crew to help hang the baseball signs up again.
  • Kiwanis Day 2024-At Lake Waccamaw Boys and Girls Camp. Saturday Nov 16 from 10 am to 1pm. This counts and an interclub and our annual $2k donation have been approved. Please plan to join us.
  • Salvation Army Bell Ringing_ Bob McAmis reports that all but two slots are filled for the bell ringing Dec 14th at Cross Creek Mall
  • There are interclub meetings planned for this week, the next one will be Nov 26, a visit to the Lillington Club at Kieth Hills Golf Club.

Birthdays-Bob McAmis and Steve Stokes completed another turn around the sun this week. Happy Birthday!
 
Program- Cheryl Gleason provides our program about the importance of social media in getting our story told.  Facebook can be more active in sharing and posting our stories, Liking FB entities rewards our engagement. Cheryl took us through some steps that will allow us to begin to tap the resources of FB to expand our marketing and branding.  Thanks for a great program, Cheryl.
