President Shaffer rallied all his intergenerational friends and presided over a program that was a cross of Dancing with the Stars with Arthur Murray’s Dance studio, President Jim managed to pull this off while not wearing a tie! Drew Zigler (Callie’s other half) brought us a tour through several dance steps that would have made Fred Astair’s head swim. These steps were expertly performed by members of the Cape Fear Ballroom Dancers. At times you could close your eyes and visualize Lawrence Welk at the podium instead of President Jim (but Lawrence always wore a tie) We fox trotted, rumbaed, and Cha Chaed all over the rec center. It was really a great program to kick off the year with newly installed President Jim.

The Kiwanis Disaster Relief Project is in motion and needs your support for manning the tractor trailer collection point in Harris Teeter parking lot. So far sign-up response has been lite and we are hopeful to get more volunteers to help receive and load supplies bound for Western North Carolina.
